Southern California Sports Club (SoCal SC) competes at the Southwest Conference of the West Region in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). The NPSL is a national league that operates in the 4th Division of the U.S. Soccer pyramid. NPSL teams are eligible to participate in the U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation with the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). The NPSL remains one of the largest national leagues in North America.
NCAA rules dictate that SoCal SC's players cannot be paid a salary, but without compromising the eligibility of the student-athletes, we will be able to offer them housing. SoCal SC would like to hear from potential host families in the Inland Empire area, preferably within the boundaries of the City of San Bernardino, who are interested in hosting a SoCal SC player from March through the end of August of 2016. The club wants to provide quality homestay opportunities for these young men, giving them the chance to experience great hospitality and a taste of the Inland Empire community.
At minimum, families should be able to offer a private living space for their player and access to transportation, preferably to the public transportation system (when available). After potential hosts have submitted their applications, SoCal SC will be conducting individual interviews and home visits to help clarify the expectations and needs for all parties involved—the hosts, the players, and the club.
If you are unsure about hosting, or would just like more information, we encourage you to apply anyway: the interviewing process will help everyone involved to determine if hosting a player would be a good fit for you and your household. Please click on the link below to fill out an interest form to host an SoCal SC player during the upcoming season. This will be a multi-month process as we narrow down hosts and determine which players need them. If you have questions, please contact our homestay coordinators at info@TheSoCalSports.Club
