SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Friday, June 2, 2017) – Pushed by the six points it collected over the last two weeks, the Southern California Sports Club faces a huge challenged this Saturday (June 3) as the team hosts National Premier Soccer League’s (NPSL) West Southwest conference leaders FC Arizona at the Fairplex at 6PM (PT).

The back-to-back wins over City of Angels FC and Sports Club Corinthians USA (this by W.O.) pushed SoCal SC to the fifth place in the division. The team looks forward to keep scoring points to reach the top four of the conference and advance to the playoffs. As of now, SoCal SC has 14 points (four wins, two ties, four losses) while fourth-placed Albion SC Pros has 18.

SoCal SC’s rivals, however, are the best team of the conference so far, as FC Arizona is still undefeated after 11 matches, with 27 points. They also have the best defense of the conference, having conceded only two goals, and the second-best offense, with 33 goals scored.

“This is a very important game for us”, Interim Head Coach Samuel Bernabe said. “It will be another opportunity to face the team that’s leading our conference. I think the team worked really well while preparing for the match and we expect to play well and hopefully get the three points”.

SoCal SC witnessed the power of FC Arizona less than a month ago, when the teams met in Tempe (AZ) and the hosts won 4-0. However, after the lessons learned, SoCal SC’s captain Eric Gonzalez believes his team can perform better this weekend.

“It is going to be a battle”, Gonzalez said. “We’ve been working on being mentally switched on at all times during a game, because in the last meeting we had several mental lapses and it caused them to score on us early in the game. Constantly being in communication with each other and not allowing ourselves to drop our level anytime during the game will help us to be mentally attuned.  We’re going to get our chances to score, so we have to be ready to put them in”.

Tickets for the game are already on sale.
