SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Friday, Apr. 21 2017) – The Southern California Sports Club will be back at the Fairplex this Saturday as the team will host expansion franchise Oxnard Guerreros at 6PM (PT) on its sixth National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) 2017 match. The two sides will meet for the first time ever.

After five matches into the season, SoCal SC is the fifth placed team of the West Southwest Conference with seven points (two wins, two losses and one draw). Oxnard Guerreros are seventh with six points won over six matches (two wins, four losses).

The expansion franchise is on the rise and they would be a dangerous opponent as they possess the most efficient offense of the Conference with 16 goals for, after having scored eleven goals the last match alone on an astonishing 11-1 win over City of Angels FC last weekend.

“We’re confident that we can play a good match”, said SoCal SC Head Coach Daniel Musatti. “A team that is able to win 11-1 in this league is obviously a solid one, with very good players. We’ll respect them, but we cannot forget that we can’t chose opponents and we must beat them if we want to achieve our goals. We want to be competitive and we want to play better than them on Saturday to get the three points”.

SoCal SC has also good offensive numbers itself with 12 goals scored over five matches – six of them on the last two matches. The team, though, is trying to find a good balance as it conceded three late goals against Orange County FC last week and let the victory escape in the end.

“I think we’re doing really well offensively”, commented midfielder Glenn Verley. “We scored six goals on the last two games, so that means we’re punishing and finishing on the chances that we get, but obviously we also let in three goals after a 3-0 lead, so we need to clean up a little bit defensively”.
