SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (Saturday, July 8, 2017) – The 2017 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season comes to an end to the Southern California Sports Club this Sunday (July 9) when the team hosts Temecula FC at the Fairplex at 11AM (PT) on the last weekend of the regular season.
SoCal SC currently ranks 5th in the West Southwest Conference with 17 points (five wins, two ties, eight losses) and, even though the team is eliminated from playoff contention, the match means a lot as the club wants to finish the season in the Top 5 of the Division.
To do that, the team needs to win the match in order to stay out of range for both Temecula FC (17 points) and the Oxnard Guerreros (16), who also target the 5th place.
“We expect to end the season playing well and winning at home”, said SoCal SC’s head coach Daniel Musatti. “Our goal is to finish at the 5th place in the Conference and be one of the best 40 teams of the entire league”.
Despite of the club not making to the playoffs after a postseason run on its inaugural campaign in 2016, coach Musatti is pleased with the team’s performance and says that the planning for 2018 will start as soon the current season is over.
“Our point per match ratio is pretty much the same we had last year, so we understand that we didn’t advance because other teams invested heavier than us, signing professional players to their rosters”, he explains. “But our main goal was to develop players and we did it very well. When the season is over, we’ll have several meeting with the team’s owners and directors to decide what the next steps for the club are”.
SoCal SC and Temecula FC have already three times, with one win for each side and one tie. Temecula FC won the clubs’ matchup this year 2-0, earlier in April.
